Your BOTOX Treatment
The injection itself takes just moments to perform. First, the area near your BOTOX treatment sites is cleaned and a topical anesthetic or ice may be applied to improve comfort. A fine needle is used to administer BOTOX directly into the facial muscles that create unwanted wrinkles.
BOTOX treatments require no downtime, so you’ll be able to resume your normal daily activities right away. Because the treatment offers temporary results that can last between 3 and 4 months, it’s best that you schedule regular visits to maintain your newly refreshed look.

How does BOTOX work?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a special toxin that temporarily paralyzes the muscles. The muscles in our faces form habitual movements. As these movements continue into our older years, the skin and muscles become less capable of bouncing back from these movements.
Muscles and skin both become looser and slacken with age. As a result, wrinkles form in regions of frequent facial expression, including the forehead and around the eyes.
In short, BOTOX Cosmetic injections are used to temporarily stop the movement of the facial muscles whose contractions are deepening existing wrinkles.

What can I expect when getting a BOTOX injection?
First, Dr. Campanile will determine which muscle groups need to be injected. There may be only one or two injections or there may be several, depending on your personal goals. After the injection site is chosen, a topical anesthetic may be applied. The BOTOX is injected directly into the targeted area.

What should I avoid after BOTOX?
One of the best things about BOTOX Cosmetic is that there is virtually no recovery period. Following your treatment, most people go right back to their normal activities. Dr. Campanile does recommend that you remain upright for the following few hours, and that you do not rub or massage your face at the injection sites. The BOTOX must remain untouched at the site of injection to treat the desired muscle groups and not migrate elsewhere. Some patients may experience temporary redness or irritation at the injection site, but usually fade quite quickly.

How long after BOTOX treatment will I see results?
Although individual experiences vary, most patients see results within just a few days of treatment. Final results are typically experienced in about 2 weeks after the BOTOX injection.

How long does the BOTOX treatment last?
The results of BOTOX cosmetic injections are temporary, and the length of time BOTOX remains effective varies from person to person. On average, you can expect your new look to last at minimum for several weeks, and usually for several months. The effects of BOTOX wear off slowly as your face returns to its pre-treatment appearance. Many of our patients schedule ongoing follow-up sessions at regular intervals to maintain their results.
